Artists lead Idul Fitri shows

JAKARTA (JP): A number of popular artists who are also known for their ability to deliver sermons will be the main stars in the Idul Fitri package of the private Televisi Pendidikan Indonesia.

The dangdut music king, Rhoma Irama, and comedian Komar are among those taking part in the shows.

Komar will perform with his wayang golek puppets in the early hours of Feb. 20, while Rhoma Irama's show will be aired on Feb. 16. He will also take part in the shows on Feb. 20 and 21.

Komar has a regular column in the Pos Kota daily.

On Feb. 20 the channel will also air a play entitled Wisdom and the Peanut Seller by the Teater Tangga group from the Muhammadiyah University in Yogyakarta. Based on poems of playwright Emha Ainun Najib, the play is about executives, officials, artists and religious leaders who gather to pray and talk together. (anr)
