Artists discuss harmony, old age

YOGYAKARTA: Pitoe Gallery is to facilitate a discussion on the Rights, Existence and Potency of Older Women on Aug. 7, here.

The topic also relates to the current exhibition at the gallery titled Harmony Sejati (True Harmony).

According to gallery director Purwadmadi Admadipura, the event is aimed at finding alternatives for older women, including ways that they can stay active and participate in community events. "We want to change people's attitudes, so that older people aren't viewed as unproductive or a burden on society, he said.

Among those scheduled to speak at the workshop is chairwoman of the Yogyakarta branch of the Association of Indonesian Graduates (ISWI) Sri Djohar Winarlien. The gallery is located on Jl. Prawirotaman 7 here. --JP
