Artists and their conscience

Artists and their conscience

From Kompas

It is interesting to note that in our endless economic crisis,
a number of personalities from the film, TV and music world have
opened sidewalk food stalls in Jakarta.

Cursorily seen, their action is praiseworthy because the
actors and musicians are well-to-do and yet see no impediment in
opening roadside eateries and even personally serve their
customers.

On the other hand, their presence indirectly takes a market
share of food stalls managed by the little people who need
regular customers, especially in these times of economic crisis.

The actors and musicians opening their trade along sidewalks
should join in the promotion of food stalls owned by the little
people and should not become competitors who stifle the
enterprise of the little people.

It is ironical that a group of people who can still have their
regular daily meals and eat to their full satisfaction,
consciously or not, have robbed the little people of their bread.
