Arsari unit wins top green award, vows stronger action
PT Mitra Stania Prima (MSP) received the PROPER Gold rating from the Environment Ministry, while Arsari Tambang President Director Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo was honored with the Green PROPER Leadership award, the company said on Tuesday.
The awards recognize MSP’s top-tier environmental management, social innovation initiatives and performance that exceeds regulatory requirements under the government’s PROPER evaluation system.
“The most tangible impact for communities is improved air quality. This reflects our commitment toward net-zero emissions, meaning no air or water pollution,” Aryo said in a statement.
He added that nearby residents have already experienced environmental improvements and that the company would continue to strengthen these outcomes.

MSP is preparing further measures to enhance sustainability, including a transition to fully renewable energy at its smelter facilities.
“God willing, we aim to reach 100 percent renewable energy use at the smelter next year,” Aryo said, describing the plan as part of a broader environmental strategy.
He also stressed that the company intends to expand its sustainability achievements beyond downstream processing into upstream mining operations.
“Our mining unit has achieved a PROPER Green rating. We aim to elevate it to Gold through zero-emission heavy equipment and electrification across production,” he said.
Aryo said maintaining high environmental standards requires strong corporate integrity and long-term commitment.
“We are not pursuing awards alone, but striving to prevent environmental pollution. Integrity is non-negotiable,” he added.
The PROPER program, managed by the Environment Ministry, assesses companies on environmental compliance and sustainability performance.
MSP’s recognition highlights its ability to integrate operational growth with environmental stewardship and community benefits.
