Arroyo orders review of security in RP
PHILIPPINES: President Gloria Arroyo on Tuesday ordered the national police to review security measures in the Philippine capital Manila and in nearby urban centers after a grenade attack on an office building in the financial center.
Arroyo said Monday's attack on office building "indicates that there may be security lapses that need to be addressed."
The attack by still unknown gunmen hit a building in Manila's Makati financial district that once housed the offices of Petron Corp., the country's largest oil refiner.
"We need to step up vigilance, active checkpoints and community involvement," Arroyo said.
"Terrorists must not be given a single chance to exploit the political and socio-economic situation," she said. --AFP
