Arriving in the Philippines, Prabowo Rides Maung for the First Time During Overseas Visit
President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Cebu, Philippines, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit. Prabowo was seen riding in the Maung Garuda vehicle during his overseas visit.
As seen in a post from the official Instagram account of the Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday (7/5/2026), Prabowo was picked up with the Maung vehicle upon arrival at Cebu airport. Prabowo is said to use the light tactical vehicle during his stay in the Philippines.
“For the first time, upon landing abroad, President Prabowo was picked up with the Maung vehicle, a source of national pride for Indonesia, a product of the national defence industry development,” read the caption.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the use of the Maung at an international forum serves as a symbol of the nation’s confidence and the progress of Indonesia’s national industry.
“The use of the Maung at this international forum is not merely a means of transportation, but a symbol of independence, national confidence, and the advancement of Indonesia’s national industry. The Maung becomes a symbol of diplomacy. From within the country, for Indonesia, present on the world stage,” he said.
The 48th ASEAN Summit takes place on 7-8 May 2026. Upon arrival in Cebu, Prabowo is scheduled to attend one of the agendas of the 48th ASEAN Summit, namely the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, which is a strategic forum to strengthen connectivity and sub-regional economic cooperation in ASEAN.
During the visit, Prabowo discussed strengthening cooperation among ASEAN countries, including efforts to address current global dynamics. Several issues to be discussed include global developments impacting the region, including efforts to maintain energy resilience and strengthen coordination in responding to geopolitical dynamics.
The meeting of ASEAN leaders is expected to strengthen regional solidarity in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation in various sectors.
