Arriving at KPK in Electric Car, Gus Ipul: This is Kemensos Operational Vehicle

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, arrived at the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026) using a white Wuling Air EV electric car with a People’s School sticker.

Gus Ipul stated that he used the electric car because it is part of the transportation assets at the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

“Yes, this is my car with the Deputy Minister; this is an operational vehicle of Kemensos,” said Gus Ipul to reporters.

He mentioned that the vehicle has been in use at Kemensos for nearly one month.

“Hopefully, it can be implemented further in the future,” he said.

Gus Ipul also stated that his presence at the KPK was to consult and seek advice regarding the procurement of goods and services for the People’s School.

“It’s a visit to build relations, consult, seek advice, and at the same time report on the developments in the procurement of goods and services at Kemensos,” he explained.

He said that his side would report the procurement of goods and services to the KPK to avoid corruption practices.

“Coincidentally, we are also starting the implementation of procurement in 2026; we want the President’s strategic programme, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corruption practices,” he said.

“Well, we’ll see what advice they give and follow it up,” he added.
