Arrest of TNI Soldier Who Pointed a Pistol in South Tangerang
Tangerang Selatan, KOMPAS.com - The action of an irregular soldier of the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) who pointed a pistol-like object at an online taxi driver in South Tangerang (Tangsel) ended in his arrest.
The soldier with initials Peltu A is currently being interrogated at the Detachment Headquarters of the Military Police (Denpom) Jaya/1 Tangerang after the incident video went viral on social media.
“We have secured the involved soldier and he is being questioned by Denpom Jaya/1 Tangerang. We ensure the legal process proceeds in accordance with applicable provisions, including deepening the chronology, witness examination, and collection of evidence,” said Donny in a statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026).
According to initial investigations, the incident was triggered by a vehicle bump in the Setu area, Tangsel, on Sunday night (1/3/2026).
The road dispute led to a heated exchange between the perpetrator and the victim. The situation then escalated into the intimidation act.
“The incident began from a dispute caused by the vehicle bump,” Donny said.
Not long after, the man pointed a pistol-like object at the victim’s head.
Preliminary findings revealed that the object used by the suspect was not a real firearm.
“The irregular soldier is suspected of pointing a pistol-like object, which was later found to be a wooden toy pistol,” Donny clarified.
“If proven to have committed violations, the person concerned will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law and military discipline,” he said.
The case surfaced after a video of the incident was uploaded to the Instagram account @dashcamindonesia. In circulating narratives, the victim claimed to have been punched until his nose bled and he was briefly handcuffed.
He also claimed the perpetrator refused the offer to settle the matter at the police station.
Moreover, the victim claimed he was asked for Rp 900,000 to settle the case on the spot.
Investigations by Denpom Jaya/1 Tangerang are ongoing to examine the entire sequence of events, including alleged violence experienced by the victim.
