Jakarta – South Jakarta’s municipal government has announced that the renovation of the east side of HR Rasuna Said Road will adopt the “complete street” concept, positioning the road as an inclusive shared public space.

“This area serves as a centre for government activity, business, and public services, playing an important role in supporting mobility and economic growth,” said South Jakarta City Secretary Mukhlisin during a socialisation event at the South Jakarta mayor’s office on Friday.

He noted that HR Rasuna Said Road is one of the primary and strategic corridors in South Jakarta.

The renovation plan for the east side of HR Rasuna Said Road will be carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Roads and Drainage Agency (Dinas Bina Marga), he said.

“We invite all community members, particularly building owners and stakeholders, to provide support and actively participate, including maintaining order during the construction process,” said Mukhlisin.

According to him, construction work could potentially cause disruptions in the field, including temporary traffic disturbances. Therefore, coordination, communication, and effective socialisation are necessary to ensure the work proceeds smoothly and delivers long-term benefits to the community.

“I hope this arrangement can make the east side of HR Rasuna Said Road more representative, well-organised, and reflect the character of a modern and competitive strategic urban area,” said Mukhlisin.

Furthermore, he continued, the road corridor arrangement will adopt the complete street concept—a approach to roads as inclusive shared spaces that considers all road users in a balanced manner, from pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users to motorised vehicles.

“Through this approach, it is hoped that more orderly, safe, and environmentally friendly road management will be created, whilst supporting sustainable mobility. The arrangement of utilities and installation of street lighting will also be conducted on the road section,” he stated.

The socialisation event at the South Jakarta mayor’s office was attended by around 60 participants, including building owners and local government representatives.
