ARPG appreciates DPR commitment to promptly pass Asset Forfeiture Bill
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Coordinator of the Prabowo-Gibran Volunteer Alliance (ARPG), Syafrudin Budiman, has expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to promptly complete and pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) by 15 December 2026 at the latest.
According to Syafrudin, who is commonly known as Gus Din, the certainty of this deadline marks an important momentum to strengthen corruption eradication while ensuring that assets derived from criminal acts can be pursued and recovered.
“ARPG extends its highest appreciation to the leadership of the DPR RI, particularly Mr Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who has demonstrated a real commitment to completing the Asset Forfeiture Bill. This is a show of good faith as well as an important momentum for strengthening corruption eradication in Indonesia,” said Gus Din when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.
The commitment was conveyed by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad during a DPR RI Plenary Session on Thursday. The DPR is targeting the Asset Forfeiture Bill to be completed by 15 December 2026 at the latest.
Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI Habiburokhman also stated that the completion of the bill is no longer merely a target, but a certainty to be brought to the plenary session in December 2026.
Gus Din assessed that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is important for strengthening the state’s instruments in pursuing, seizing, and confiscating assets derived from criminal acts as well as increasing the chances of recovering state losses.
“The Asset Forfeiture Bill has been awaited by many parties. This is not only a need of the government or law enforcement officials, but also the hope of the public so that corruption eradication becomes more effective and provides a deterrent effect,” he said.
He urged that the deliberation process continue to ensure that law enforcement is carried out fairly, in a balanced manner, provides legal certainty, and is not selective. According to him, the deliberation also needs to be conducted openly, carefully, and provide room for public participation.
“We want a strong law, but one that remains just. Corruption eradication must not open up room for arbitrariness. Therefore, this bill must be able to create a balance between the state’s interest in saving assets derived from crime and the protection of citizens’ rights,” he said.
Gus Din welcomed public involvement in the deliberation of the bill. Previously, Dasco stated that Commission III of the DPR RI was still opening up space for public participation to provide input on the substance as well as the technical aspects of the deliberation.
He acknowledged that the Asset Forfeiture Bill contains new legal concepts and therefore requires careful deliberation. However, according to him, this complexity is expected not to become a reason to once again delay its passage.
“After years of being unfinished business, there is now a clear deadline. We hope this momentum is truly maintained until the Asset Forfeiture Bill is passed into law,” he said.
Gus Din affirmed that ARPG will continue to support the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN).
“ARPG supports the Prabowo-Gibran administration in continuing to eradicate KKN as well as creating good, transparent, and high-integrity governance. We want to build good governance and clean governance,” said Gus Din.
He expressed hope that the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill will become one of the foundations for strengthening governance, the rule of law, as well as increasing public trust in state institutions.
“If assets derived from corruption can be pursued and recovered effectively, then the state’s message becomes clear: corruption is not a crime that provides benefits. The state is present to protect the people’s money and uphold justice,” he said.
Gus Din, who is also Chairman of the Barisan Pembaharuan 08 (BP-08) volunteer group, said that the volunteer groups supporting Prabowo-Gibran will continue to oversee the government’s agenda, particularly corruption eradication and the strengthening of governance.
“The most important thing now is to oversee this commitment together. The DPR has stated its target. The government, civil society, and all elements of the nation need to oversee it so that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is truly passed in accordance with the commitment, with strong, fair, balanced substance that sides with the interests of the people,” said Gus Din.
