Around 85,000 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims and Officers Return Home

Juru Bicara Kementerian Haji, Ichsan Marsha, announced that more than 85,000 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims and officers have returned to the homeland. He stated that the repatriation process is proceeding in stages, prioritising safety, comfort, and service quality. “Alhamdulillah, the return process for pilgrims has been going well so far. We continue to ensure optimal repatriation services so that all pilgrims can return to the homeland safely, comfortably, and soundly until the very last flight group,” Ichsan Marsha said in Mecca on Sunday (14/6).

Latest data recorded that 222 flight groups (kloter) have been dispatched from Saudi Arabia via Jeddah Airport. This number comprises 86,378 pilgrims and 885 officers, bringing the total repatriated from Saudi Arabia to 87,263 people. Meanwhile, the number of pilgrims and officers who have already arrived in Indonesia stands at 217 flight groups, consisting of 84,425 pilgrims and 865 officers, totalling 85,290 arrivals, or approximately 41.7 percent of all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims this year.

In addition to the repatriation process, the movement of the second wave of pilgrims from Mecca to Medina is ongoing. To date, 120 flight groups carrying 46,017 pilgrims and 480 officers have been dispatched to Medina, bringing the total number of people who have moved from Mecca to Medina to 46,497. For special Hajj pilgrims, 15,802 individuals have been reported as having returned to Indonesia, comprising 15,066 pilgrims and 736 officers.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf emphasised that services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are still continuing even though the peak rituals of Hajj 2026 have concluded. He also expressed appreciation for the dedication of officers who were responsive in serving the 2026 pilgrims, particularly elderly groups. The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, has instructed officers to enhance readiness for the arrival of pilgrims in Medina following the peak period at Armuzna. Meanwhile, the Hajj Organising Committee noted that 15 pilgrims remain unable to return with their flight groups as they are still receiving treatment at various hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
