Around 10% of Village Cooperatives Completed, Prabowo to Inaugurate

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has revealed that 8,672 Village/Urban Village Red and White Cooperatives have been 100% completed and are now preparing for launch by President Prabowo Subianto at the end of this month. This number accounts for around 10% of the total cooperatives that will operate.

Ferry stated that thousands of these cooperatives are currently being fitted with various supporting facilities for operations. “There are 8,672 that are 100% complete,” Ferry said during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026).

When asked whether the cooperative facilities already include the pickup vehicles that were previously mentioned as being imported, Ferry said the equipping process is still ongoing.

“Yes (pickup vehicles) are in the process of being equipped, because by the end of this month, God willing, they will be launched by Mr President (Prabowo Subianto),” he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government would soon begin inaugurating the Village/Urban Village Red and White Cooperatives. In the initial phase, 1,000 cooperatives will be launched first.

“Soon we will inaugurate 1,000 Red and White Cooperatives, possibly in 2-3 weeks, after that in 2-3 months we will inaugurate 25,000 cooperatives,” Prabowo said at the Groundbreaking event for 13 Downstream Projects Phase II in Cilacap, Central Java.

Prabowo emphasised that the cooperatives being built by the government are not just concepts on paper, but are equipped with physical facilities to support village economic activities.

He further asserted that there is no precedent in world history for a country to build 25,000-30,000 cooperatives in one year. “Try looking through history, in world history, is there any case where 25,000 or 30,000 cooperatives can be built and completed in 1 year,” he said.
