Army officer beaten in Curug

TANGERANG: An Army officer from a battalion stationed in Cijantung, East Jakarta, was beaten by residents after he was caught having sex with a prostitute at his sister's house in the Kelapa Dua housing complex, Curug district, Tangerang regency, on Thursday afternoon.

Curug Police chief Insp. I Ketut Sudarsana said on Friday the officer, Chief Sgt. Sukri, 30, brought the prostitute to the house late on Wednesday.

"The residents were suspicious because the couple were alone in the house after the owner left for work on Thursday morning. They feared the neighborhood would be marred with a sex scandal," he said.

The residents stormed the house in the afternoon and found the two having sex in the bedroom.

While being escorted to the village head's office, Sukri was beaten by residents, leaving him with a bruised and bloodied face.

Village head Memet reported the officer to the police, who handed him over to the Military Police.

"This is a good lesson for military and police officers. Why didn't they just rent a room at a hotel?" Sudarsana said. -- JP
