Army helicopter crashes in Kapuas

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: An Army helicopter crashed during a test flight in Seluan village, Kapuas regency, on Tuesday.

Antara reported the helicopter was flying at a height of about 5,000 meters when it suddenly began a steep descent.

The crew of the B-105 helicopter, Capt. Joko, Lt. Rudianto and Sgt. Sunaryo, survived, Antara reported.

Putussibau Military Commander Maj. Warto confirmed the accident and believed mechanical failure was the probable cause.

"We are still waiting for a team from Jakarta who will investigate the incident," Warto said. (emf)
