Army Chief of Staff Urges Subordinates to Make Easter a Momentum for Unity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak stated that the Easter celebration should be made a moment of unity for all elements to advance the nation.
This was conveyed by Maruli while attending the Easter commemoration with soldiers, civil servants, and members of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana in the Jakarta and surrounding areas at the General A.H. Nasution Auditorium, Army Headquarters, Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4).
“Easter embodies the strengthening of faith as well as the solidarity of soldiers and TNI AD civil servants who are prima in supporting Advanced Indonesia,” said Maruli, as quoted from the official TNI AD press release received in Jakarta on Friday.
According to Maruli, Easter teaches Christians to build values of faith and solidarity among fellow human beings.
With high values of faith and solidarity, all elements of society can join hands to realise a peaceful and advanced Indonesia.
This noble goal, Maruli continued, can only be achieved when all elements of society can reconcile, set aside individual desires, and prioritise national unity and progress.
“We hope that this Easter celebration can foster strong faith values and build solid solidarity in supporting the optimal implementation of the TNI AD’s main duties,” said Maruli.
He hopes that this momentum can be absorbed by all his subordinates so that in the future they can be even stronger in carrying out national security tasks.
It is known that the Easter worship was led by Pastor Godlif Yohanes and was also attended by the Deputy Bishop of TNI-Polri Father Colonel (Sus) Yos Bintoro, Pr., as well as the Secretary of the Interfaith and Belief Relations Commission of the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (KWI) Father Aloysius Budi Purnomo.
The series of activities was also filled with reflections, the lighting of Easter candles by the KSAD and the General Chair of Persit KCK, as well as a joint prayer led by Pastor Etika Saragih.
