Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak and his senior Indonesian Army (TNI AD) officials met with President Prabowo Subianto this afternoon. Maruli reported on the progress of suspension bridge construction and school renovations.

“President Prabowo Subianto received Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak along with senior Indonesian Army officials at Merdeka Palace,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).

During the meeting, Maruli reported on the developments in the implementation of strategic tasks carried out by the TNI AD. One of them was the completion of 300 pioneer suspension bridges scattered throughout Indonesia in the last three months.

In the same period, Maruli mentioned that his side also completed the repair of 300 schools affected by the Sumatra disaster.

“In these three months, the renovation of 300 schools in three provinces affected by the Sumatra disaster has also been completed, including the construction of 300 clean water bore points at those schools,” he said.

Teddy explained that the programme is part of efforts to accelerate the development of basic infrastructure, particularly in remote areas and regions affected by disasters.

The TNI AD is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works to speed up the completion of public facilities in villages and remote areas.

“Of course, this cooperation is driven by the concern of the community in the development locations in those areas,” said Teddy.
