Armed robbery in East Jakarta
JAKARTA (JP): A group of eight men armed with guns and
machetes broke into a residential house in Kampung Tengah
subdistrict in East Jakarta early yesterday and stole hundreds of
grams of gold jewelry and Rp 1.7 million in cash.
No fatalities were reported, but one person received a facial
injury.
An officer from Makassar police subprecinct said the robbers,
who arrived in two large Suzuki cars, broke into Hartono's house
on Jl. Inpres Raya and threatened his family with their
weapons.
Hartono's son-in-law, Wengky Winarizal, received a facial
wound when he tried to resist the robbers, said the officer who
asked not to be named.
Wengky, an official at the Institute of State Personnel
Administration (BAKN), was taken to the nearby Harapan Bunda
hospital on Jl. Raya Bogor.
The officer said that the robbers also left with two mobile
phones.
He added that an investigation was currently underway. (ivy)
