Armed robbers swipe Rp 56.5m

TANGERANG: Three armed robbers stopped a car and snatched a bag on Tuesday containing Rp 56.5 million (US$6,141).

Police reports said on Wednesday that the victim, Emi A.Z., 40, was driving his car on Jl. Teko in Bumi Serpong Damai in Tangerang regency, when a motorcyclist motioned to him to pull over.

The suspect questioned victim about his identity and threatened him with a gun. Two other suspects joined in and grabbed Emi's waist pack from the car with the money in it as well as two passbooks, one from Bank Mandiri and the other from Bank BNI.

The robbers then sped away on two motorcycles. Tangerang Police are still looking for the suspects. -- JP
