Armed gang steals ATM machine

DENPASAR, Bali: A group of armed men stole an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) on Saturday containing an estimated Rp 55 million, police said.

"The incident took place around 3 a.m. when the gang, armed with blades and sickles, attacked the guard and lifted the ATM into a waiting car," Badung Police chief Lt. Co. DBM. Suharya said on Saturday.

The ATM was located in a branch office of Bank Danamon on Jl. Gatot Subroto on the outskirts of the town.

The guard, identified as Ketut Muliana, 22, was tied up with a rope and suffered minor injuries, Suharya said.

"We have deployed officers to capture the gang. The burglary looks like it was prepared as the gang easily took away the ATM machine weighing 250 kilograms," he said. (zen/edt)
