Armed Criminal Group suspected of shooting PT Freeport employee in Gresberg

Jayapura — The Head of the Damai Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, acknowledged receiving reports of the death of Simson Mulia, a PT Freeport employee, who is suspected to have been shot by an armed criminal group in the Gresberg area, Tembagapura, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

“We have just received a report about the shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday (11 March), which resulted in the death of a PT Freeport employee,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, Head of the Damai Cartenz Peace Operation, on Tuesday.

When contacted from Jayapura, the Head of the Damai Cartenz Peace Operation stated that authorities have not yet been able to determine which armed criminal group was responsible for the shooting.

“Personnel from the Damai Cartenz Task Force continue to investigate to establish the identity of the perpetrators,” he said.

According to information gathered, the shooting incident that killed Simson Mulia occurred at approximately 08:39 Western Indonesia Time as the victim and a colleague were passing through the old reclamation area in Gresberg, Tembagapura.
