An armed criminal group (KKB) led by Kalenak Murib carried out a brutal attack in Lambera Village, Yugumoak District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua. On Wednesday, 18 June 2025, at approximately 09:00 Eastern Indonesia Time, the KKB attacked civilians, resulting in three deaths, four injuries, and at least 11 honai (traditional houses) being set ablaze.

The deceased victims were identified as Minanggen Wijangge, Patiago Tabuni, and Oriup Murib. The injured were Amos Tabuni (gunshot wound to the right arm), Anis Tabuni (gunshot wound to the left arm), Amote Tabuni (head wound), and Perdus Tabuni (leg wound).

According to witness accounts, the attack was motivated by personal reasons. Kalenak Murib, who is known to have three wives, was reportedly enraged after discovering that his third wife was having an affair with one of his subordinates, Minanggen Wijangge. Ironically, Wijangge was among those killed in the attack.

As a result of the assault, the majority of Lambera Village residents fled to Megeabume District and Sinak District to seek safety. A joint team from Sinak Police and the Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force immediately responded to the incident, deploying to the field to assess the condition of victims and gather information.

Damai Cartenz Operations Commander Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani stated, "This is a barbaric act targeting innocent civilians. We will not stand idle. Operasi Damai Cartenz will continue to pursue and take firm legal action against the perpetrators."

Damai Cartenz Operations Public Relations Task Force Head Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo urged the public to remain calm and to place their full trust in the security forces to handle the case. Security forces have increased patrols and are coordinating with the Yugumoak District government to ensure the safety of residents.
