Arif Gobel's Track Record: Rachmat Gobel's Son Seen as Business Successor After Leading Major Gathering

The departure of national entrepreneur Rachmat Gobel has drawn attention to the sustainability of one of Indonesia’s largest business groups, Gobel Group. The figure, known for decades as a driver of the national electronics industry, built a business foundation spanning various sectors, from manufacturing to logistics. Amid this transition, public attention has turned to the next generation of the Gobel family. One name currently being widely discussed is Mohammad Arif Rachmat Gobel. Rachmat Gobel’s son is considered to have been prepared to take on a larger role within the Gobel Group. His track record shows active involvement in the group’s core companies; he recently led a morning assembly with the entire Gobel Group extended family. Growing up as the third generation of the Gobel family, Arif is the grandson of Thayeb Mohammad Gobel, the pioneer of the modern electronics industry in Indonesia. In recent years, Arif has been entrusted with various strategic positions within the company. He currently serves as a Director of Gobel Group, as well as a director at Panasonic Gobel Indonesia and PT Gotrans Logistics International. In his role, Arif handles business development, human resource quality improvement, operational refinement, and the acceleration of digital transformation across various business lines. Gobel Group itself is a national conglomerate with businesses in manufacturing, logistics, trade, property, infrastructure, and services. For decades, the company has also maintained a strategic partnership with Japan’s Panasonic Corporation. Arif’s educational background has also been a foundation for his career. He completed his secondary education at Brighton Grammar School in Melbourne, Australia. He then continued his studies at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, where from 2014 to 2018 he studied Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
