Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Commissioner of PT Pelindo (Persero), Arief Poyuscno, has proposed the development of the ADHARA platform, a supply chain integration concept that connects businesses, logistics providers, financing institutions, and international buyers within a single digital ecosystem.

The platform is designed to provide transaction certainty, accelerate trade financing, and simultaneously increase the transparency and efficiency of Indonesia’s export processes.

“Indonesia possesses vast resources. The next challenge is to build a logistics system capable of connecting all that potential into an efficient, modern, and integrated economic force,” Arief stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He noted that Indonesia’s current logistics costs remain in the range of 23-24 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is almost double that of industrialised nations, which typically hover between 8-12 per cent.

“Indonesia’s logistics issue is not merely a lack of ports or roads. The greatest challenge lies in supply chain integration, certainty of delivery times, the digitalisation of business processes, and synchronisation between stakeholders,” said Arief.

According to him, in the modern global trading system, delivery delays carry much greater economic consequences than the cost of transportation itself.

Global industries currently rely on just-in-time production systems, making supply chain efficiency a primary factor in determining a nation’s competitiveness.

Arief believes that logistics reform must be directed towards building a digital ecosystem that connects production, distribution, inventory, financing, and international trade within one integrated system.

This step includes the digitalisation of customs processes, national logistics data exchange, time-based distribution management, and the development of modern logistics hubs.

Such a model is considered applicable in Indonesia to improve efficiency across the agricultural, manufacturing, and export commodity sectors.

In addition to digitalisation, Arief proposed three main agendas for national logistics reform: increasing connectivity through rail-based mass transit and maritime transport, developing economic zones connected to international trade routes, and strengthening investment in research and technology as the foundation for national industrial transformation.

He believes that supply chain reform will strengthen the national industrial structure, reduce logistics costs, increase domestic value addition, and make Indonesia more competitive within the global supply chain.
