A passenger on the Argo Bromo Anggrek train has filed a lawsuit against PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Persero. The lawsuit follows an accident involving a collision between a Commuter Line train and the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday, 27 April.

The passenger, identified as Rolland E Potu, is seeking material damages of approximately Rp 800,000, equivalent to the price of his ticket, along with compensation of Rp 100 billion. One trigger for the lawsuit relates to PT KAI’s response via text message regarding the ticket refund, which he deems insufficient in showing empathy towards passengers.

“About three hours after the accident, I received information from KAI 121 via SMS stating that the Argo Bromo Anggrek train was cancelled and that a refund option was available. This became the point of my lawsuit against PT KAI Persero or its holding companies,” he said, quoted from a YouTube broadcast on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

Rolland claims the lawsuit is based on alleged negligence by PT KAI in implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance or good corporate management.

“This shows that the Good Corporate Governance or the post-accident service and handling system from PT Kereta Api should not be like this. In fact, an accident occurred, not a cancellation. Why weren’t the consumers’ conditions checked first, but instead only offered a ticket refund option? To me, it feels like disregarding consumer rights. Here, I see negligence, alleged negligence, or error in implementing Good Corporate Governance principles,” he said.

On the other hand, Rolland also revealed the reason for demanding Rp 100 billion in compensation from PT KAI. He stated that the Rp 100 billion would be fully handed over to the victims who died or were injured in the accident at Bekasi Timur Station last Monday.

“In my lawsuit, besides the material claim for my ticket of approximately Rp 800,000, my immaterial claim is Rp 100 billion. Why is my immaterial claim Rp 100 billion, even though this lawsuit is not a class action? In the content of my lawsuit, I have included that the Rp 100 billion should be given entirely to the victims who died or were injured,” he said.
