Argo Bromo Anggrek Train Receives Green Signal Despite KRL Collision with Electric Taxi at Bekasi Timur Station

Jakarta, VIVA – The National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT) says the Argo Bromo Anggrek train received a green signal even though there was an incident of a KRL colliding with an electric taxi at a level crossing near Bekasi Timur Station. This was conveyed by KNKT head Soerjanto Tjahjono at a meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 21 May 2026. He initially explained that the collision between KA 5181 Commuter Line and the electric taxi at the Bekasi Timur level crossing on the downstream line occurred at 20:48:29 WIB. Then, at 20:50 WIB, KA Argo Bromo Anggrek moved on Track 3 at Bekasi Station with the signal outward green. ‘KA Bromo Anggrek moved directly on Track 3 at Bekasi Station with an outward signal J12 with green aspect or green colour,’ Soerjanto said in the meeting. The Chair of Commission V, Lasarus, then asked about the state of the signal. ‘So the conclusion KNKT obtained when the collision between the train and the car occurred, and then the Argo Bromo Anggrek train moved and hit the Commuter Line; was the signal already green, Sir?’ Lasarus asked. Soerjanto explained that the Argo Bromo Anggrek signal at that time showed green. ‘The signal was green, Sir,’ he replied. ‘Shouldn’t it have been red, Sir, because there is an obstacle ahead?’ Lasarus asked again. Soerjanto then said that KNKT had not yet presented analysis on that day, but rather only factual data. ‘Later we will explain further. In this presentation we are only presenting factual data, there is no analysis and there is no conclusion about the causes of the accident,’ Soerjanto concluded.
