The fatal accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line has entered a new phase. Police are set to interrogate the driver of the Argo Bromo Anggrek, identified by the initials AN, after he was officially named a suspect.

This interrogation is a follow-up step by investigators to delve deeper into AN’s role in the accident that occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on 27 April 202_ (Note: source date 2026).

The Deputy Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Assistant Commissioner I Dewa P. G. Anom Danujaya, stated that a summons will be issued to AN for questioning in his capacity as a suspect. “We will proceed with the summons for the examination process,” he said on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

The Head of Unit 1, Sub-directorate 1 of State Security at Polda Metro Jaya, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Rizka, indicated that the interrogation is likely to take place next week. Although AN has been named a suspect, he has not yet been detained, though detention remains a possibility following the investigation.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya revealed the reasons for designating the driver as a suspect. Assistant Commissioner Anom Danujaya noted that investigators discovered issues regarding the emergency braking procedure performed by the driver prior to the collision.

This conclusion was reached after investigators analysed data logger information, which records critical operational parameters during a train’s journey. The analysis revealed that the driver only initiated emergency braking when the train was 263 metres away from the point of impact with KRL 5568.

“It was found that the emergency brake action by the Argo Bromo Anggrek driver was performed at 21:51:54, when the train was 263 metres from the collision point with KRL 5568,” Anom stated on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.

The fatal accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL at Bekasi Timur Station has gained significant attention following investigations by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), which identified several contributing factors to the crash.
