Argo Bromo and KRL Collision: Bekasi Railway Line Targeted to Return to Normal This Afternoon

JAKARTA - The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has targeted the Bekasi railway line to Cikarang and Jakarta to return to normal this afternoon, Tuesday (28/4/2026), following the accident involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and an Electric Rail Train (KRL). “The first stage is the evacuation of passengers, and the second is the recovery process of the collided train carriages. And just now I saw below that efforts are still being made so that it can truly be lifted this afternoon,” Agus said at Bekasi Timur Station, Tuesday (28/4/2026). “If this can be completed, then the next stage is the normalisation of the KRL train route and everything affected by last night’s incident,” he explained. “Including after everything has been lifted, according to the explanation from KAI earlier, there needs to be another check on the overhead electrical lines. This must also be ensured to operate normally again,” he stated. “Yes, there are 15 (victims) who have passed away,” said the Head of Health Services of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol dr. Martinus Ginting, to reporters at RS Polri Kramat Jati. Martinus said that 10 of the 15 bodies are still in the identification process at RS Polri Kramat Jati by a joint team from Dokkes Mabes Polri, Polda Metro Jaya, and Polres Bekasi Kota. Meanwhile, the Head of RS Polri Kramat Jati, Brigjen Pol dr. Prima Heru, said that they have received seven antemortem data from the victims’ families. “The families who have reported to the antemortem post so far number seven families,” Prima said when met on the same occasion. “Then at 07.00 WIB, two more were added, after that there were many breaks like that,” he added. He further stated that they are striving to complete the identification process for all victims today.
