The existence of the proving ground at the Office of Roadworthiness Testing and Motor Vehicle Certification (BPLJSKB) in Bekasi, West Java, is considered to play a crucial role for the national automotive industry. This testing facility serves as the most complete government-owned international-standard proving ground in Southeast Asia, capable of providing international-standard testing services.

However, questions have arisen regarding whether BPLJSKB’s testing results are recognised globally. “The goal is for the test results to be recognised globally through the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreement (ASEAN MRA) scheme. Currently, BPLJSKB is also establishing cooperation with various foreign technical services so that the testing conducted at BPLJSKB can be used for homologation purposes worldwide, particularly in European countries,” Iman told KOMPAS.com recently.

Regarding facilities, the testing processes already utilise the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) standards, applicable to both conventional and electrified vehicles. Furthermore, moving forward, BPLJSKB intends to adapt to the evolving trends and needs of both the national and global automotive industries, a step that will be pursued through the continuous development of its facilities.
