Archbishop Leo Sukoto quits

JAKARTA (JP): Pope John Paul II accepted the resignation of Jakarta's archbishop yesterday.

Purbo Tamtomo, secretary of the Jakarta diocese, said in a statement yesterday that Monsignor Leo Sukoto SJ's successor has yet to be appointed.

The diocese's Advisory Council will elect a Catholic community administrator to lead the Jakarta diocese until the Pope appoints a new bishop. (09)
