Construction of the aramco bridge in Jorong Tanjung Sawah, Nagari Padang Laweh, South Batipuh District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra has reached 55 per cent completion.

“Progress on the aramco bridge construction here has reached 55 per cent,” said Platoon Commander III of Rifle Company C, Territorial Development Infantry Battalion 844 Satria Batang Hari, Second Lieutenant of Infantry I Ketut Wira Tri Pradhana Yogha, in Tanah Datar Regency on Friday.

The Indonesian military (TNI), together with the government and relevant agencies, continues to accelerate the recovery of areas affected by disasters, including Nagari Padang Laweh in South Batipuh District, which was struck by flash floods in late November 2025.

The construction of the aramco bridge is classified as urgent and vital, given that the road serves as one of the main access routes connecting Tanah Datar Regency with Solok Regency via Lake Singkarak.

Second Lieutenant I Ketut Wira said construction of the aramco bridge commenced on 4 February 2026. The bridge is targeted for completion and expected to be open to traffic by 3 March 2026.

He noted that one of the challenges in the bridge’s construction relates to weather conditions, with heavy rain and strong winds occurring frequently in recent weeks, posing considerable risks to personnel working on the shores of Lake Singkarak.

Moreover, the upper reaches of the former flash flood channel remain highly vulnerable and are filled with large boulders. Heavy rainfall still has the potential to trigger secondary flooding.

“Essentially, we are maintaining safety standards given that the terrain around here frequently experiences adverse weather,” he said.

For the aramco bridge construction project, the TNI has deployed four units: personnel from Military District Command 0307 Tanah Datar, Combat Engineer Detachment 2/Prasada Sakti, Infantry Battalion 131 Braja Sakti, and Territorial Development Infantry Battalion 844 Satria Batang Hari.

Various equipment has been mobilised by the government, PT Adhi Karya, the TNI, and the nagari administration. This collaborative effort is expected to accelerate the construction of the aramco bridge, which is urgently needed by the local community.
