Araghchi: US must choose ceasefire or war through Israel
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iran has warned the United States that it must choose between a ceasefire or sustained war through Israel, and cannot have both. “The conditions for an Iran-US ceasefire are clear and explicit; America must choose between a ceasefire or ongoing war through Israel. The US cannot have both,” wrote Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the X platform on Wednesday (8/4). Araghchi added that the world is witnessing the massacres in Lebanon. “The ball is in America’s court, and the world is watching whether the US will act according to its commitments,” he said. Citing trustworthy sources, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran will withdraw from the ceasefire agreement with the US if Israel continues to violate it through attacks on Lebanon. The Israeli military stated that they attacked more than 100 locations within 10 minutes in various areas of Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern Lebanon, in the “largest” coordinated attack since the latest strikes on Lebanon began. Following mediation by Pakistan, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday (7/4) and said Tehran had submitted a 10-point proposal that could be implemented for negotiations. The announcement came less than two hours before the deadline set by Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate, or face the “destruction of the entire civilisation”.
