Araghchi asserts Iran will not yield to threats
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that there is no military solution to issues involving Iran, and his country will not yield to pressure or threats.
At the BRICS 2026 foreign ministers’ meeting in India, Araghchi noted that Iran has been subjected to two brutal and illegal aggressions by the US and Israel in less than a year, according to a report from the Fars News Agency.
BRICS held the meeting under the theme “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability” amid the conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran, which was launched on 28 February and is now under a ceasefire.
BRICS is attended by Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, and Indonesia.
“It must now be clear to everyone that Iran is invincible, and every time it is under pressure, Iran emerges stronger and more united than before,” said Araghchi.
“As I have repeatedly emphasised, there is no military solution to any problem related to Iran. We, the Iranian people, will not yield to any pressure or threats, but we will respond with respect,” he stated.
He added that Iran’s armed forces are ready to deliver a strong and devastating response to foreign aggressors, while stressing that the Iranian people are peace-loving and do not desire war.
“In this shameful situation, we are not the aggressors, but the aggrieved party whose rights have been violated,” Araghchi remarked.
The ceasefire, mediated by Pakistan, came into effect on 8 April, although negotiations in Islamabad failed to produce a permanent agreement.
US President Donald Trump subsequently announced that the ceasefire would remain in place indefinitely, despite ongoing military tensions and maritime restrictions in the Gulf region. The US has maintained a naval blockade against Iran since 13 April.
