Arab countries condemn Israel's law imposing death penalty on Palestinian detainees

Istanbul - Arab interior ministers have condemned Israel’s law that imposes the death penalty on Palestinian detainees, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. The condemnation was expressed in a statement at the close of the 43rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council, held via video conference on Wednesday (1/4). The ministers assessed that the law reflects Israel’s ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and will exacerbate tensions in the region. They also condemned Iran’s “unjustified” attacks on Gulf states, deeming them a serious violation of international law and a threat to peace. They affirmed full solidarity with the targeted countries and support for their self-defence measures. The ministers further condemned Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories since 1967. They reaffirmed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon and emphasised that arms must be in the hands of state institutions.
