Ara Reveals 324 Houses for Senen Railway Trackside Residents Completed by 15 June, 500 Units to Follow
Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait, known as Ara, stated that more than 324 housing units for residents along the Pasar Senen railway tracks in Central Jakarta are currently being prepared. Meanwhile, another 800 units will follow for the residents.
“Then also following President Prabowo’s directive, from his field visit two weeks ago in the Senen area, construction has already begun in the Jalan Kramat area. That was with Mr Donny (Danantara), following Mr Rosan’s directive for around 300 houses in the Senen area,” Ara said after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026).
For the housing of residents along the Senen railway tracks, Ara targets completion by 15 June 2026. Meanwhile, the remaining 500 units will be processed soon by the government.
“Then also being prepared by the railway company, KAI, are the next 500 houses that will be processed soon. For the Senen ones, they will be ready by 15 June, meaning two months from now, 15 June 2026,” she said.
In addition, the government is preparing steps to take over PT KAI land and other state assets to reclaim them. President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, according to Ara, is that state land must be used for the interests of the state and the people.
“And mainly in strategic areas, the President’s directive also guided Mr Nusron (Wahid), the Minister of ATR, to prepare lands for housing quickly, so that the lands prepared by Mr Nusron can also be directed for financing and construction by Danantara,” she said.
The total housing for residents along the Pasar Senen railway tracks is 324 units, making a temporary total of 824. “Yes, from the follow-up of that visit. So the total is 824 units, that’s it. We hope for that, but the ones in Senen might come first, 324 units,” Ara stated.
Ara revealed that the financing for housing for residents along the railway tracks will come from the state budget, Danantara, to corporate social responsibility (CSR) from private companies. For the ownership scheme, the government is currently developing the legal framework.
“Well, we’re arranging how the ownership will work, some we ensure will be with rent as well. We’ll see the regulations later but let’s build first to make it quick. So we build while following up, we’ll prepare the regulations later. Whatever can be done, for now there are quite a few that are rental in nature, affordable rental prices,” she added.
