Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 27 mosque caretakers (marbot) and administrators from various regions across Indonesia have been sent on an Umrah pilgrimage as a form of appreciation for their dedication to religious activities and community service.

The programme, organised by AQUA in partnership with the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) and the Istiqlal Mosque Management Body (BPMI), has entered its third year and has sent a total of 70 caretakers and mosque administrators to date.

The Head of Worship Organising at BPMI, Bukhori Sail Al-Tahability, stated that the dedication of mosque caretakers and administrators deserves attention because they play a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of various activities within the mosque.

“We appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved in this programme, including both the private sector and religious organisations, who share the same spirit of prospering the mosque and honouring its drivers,” Bukhori said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He added that the service of mosque caretakers and administrators is a vital part of maintaining the mosque as a centre for community development and service.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of DMI, Rahmat Hidayat, stated that this collaboration is part of an effort to provide direct benefits to the mosque ecosystem and its organisers.

Rahmat noted that DMI is focused on efforts to strengthen the role of mosques so they become more empowered and capable of providing broader services to the community.

“Attention to mosque caretakers and administrators is not only important as a form of recognition, but also as part of the effort to maintain the sustainable role of the mosque as a space for service, development, and community empowerment,” he said.

The General Secretary Director of Danone Indonesia, Agung Laksamana, stated that this partnership is part of AQUA’s efforts to provide support that can be felt directly by the community.

According to him, empowering the community requires sustained collaboration with religious organisations, mosque institutions, and communities to strengthen the social role of the mosque.

He expressed hope that the programme could sustain the spirit of goodness so that it continues to grow and benefit more people.
