Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association (Aprobi) together with the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) provided education on the importance of renewable energy and palm oil to 5,000 Scouts at the 12th National Jamboree in 2026.

Aprobi Deputy Chairman Catra de Thouars stated that in the activity held at the Technology Arts and Culture Village, Buperta Cibubur, East Jakarta, the association introduced the use of renewable energy and biofuels, noting that Indonesia has currently implemented a mandatory biodiesel programme up to B50.

“Scouts have an important role as agents of palm oil literacy to answer negative issues and provide positive information about palm oil to the public regarding the development of renewable energy, especially the biodiesel programme,” Catra said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He added that the association wanted to convey the enormous benefits of palm oil in daily life as well as information that palm oil is a natural resource asset and the largest foreign exchange contributor for the country, so Indonesians should be proud of it and protect it from various negative information.

During the socialisation, Aprobi presented several points to the young Scouts at the 2026 National Jamboree, including the mandatory biodiesel programme up to B50, which explains Indonesia’s achievements in utilising palm oil-based biofuels and the role of palm oil as the main raw material for biodiesel.

The association also highlighted the use of palm oil over 24 hours so that young Scouts understand that palm oil is not limited to cooking oil, but that processed palm oil products are used in daily life around the clock.

Additionally, Aprobi emphasised the contribution of palm oil as a strategic economic and foreign exchange saviour and the largest foreign exchange contributor for the country.

Catra noted that Aprobi began actively participating in national scouting activities at the 10th National Jamboree in 2016, followed by the 11th National Raimuna in 2017, and has since regularly participated in subsequent national scouting events up to the 12th National Jamboree on 15-20 August 2026 with BPDP support.

Ahmad Ramasaputra, a Scout from Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, said that through the educational activity he became more familiar with the use of palm oil for food and energy products that are part of daily activities.

“So the use of palm oil is not only for cooking oil but is also greatly needed for vehicle fuel through palm oil biodiesel,” he said.

Meanwhile, Artan Afrizal Zahran, a Scout from Nganjuk Regency, East Java, acknowledged that palm oil has an extraordinary role in becoming high value-added products.

“This information needs to be conveyed to the younger generation to counterbalance negative information that corners palm oil,” he said.
