Approved! Labour Leader Jumhur Hidayat Becomes Environment Minister Replacing Hanif Faisol

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The General Chairman of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Jumhur Hidayat, has been appointed by President Prabowo Subianto as the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency. Jumhur replaces Hanif Faisol, who now holds the position of Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs. “I swear by Allah that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and will carry out laws and regulations as straight as possible, for the sake of my dharma service to the nation and state,” said Jumhur during the oath-taking in front of Prabowo at the State Palace on Monday (27/4/2026). “That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of the position and work as best as possible with full responsibility,” he added. Jumhur previously served as Head of the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) from 2007-2014. Subsequently, on 16 February 2022, Jumhur Hidayat was elected as KSPSI chairman at the 10th Congress for the 2022-2027 period. Jumhur’s appointment is appreciated by the President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea. Andi appreciates President Prabowo Subianto for appointing labour representatives as ministers in his cabinet. “An honour for workers,” said Andi briefly.
