The celebration of Eid Al-Fitr marks a period of increased consumer spending on various needs, ranging from food and beverages to fashion and cosmetic products. During this time, the public is urged to exercise caution when selecting products for consumption and use.

The head of the Indonesian Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, emphasised that the surge in shopping activity approaching Eid Al-Fitr celebrations must be balanced with awareness to always ensure product halal compliance.

“Eid Al-Fitr is a time when public consumption increases, from food, beverages, clothing, to cosmetics. Therefore, it is important for us to remain careful in choosing products we consume,” said Haikal, in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

According to Haikal, selecting halal products is not merely about religious preference in meeting daily needs, but also provides assurance regarding product safety, hygiene, and quality, thereby offering consumers peace of mind and comfort in their use and consumption.

“Make sure the products we choose are halal certified. This way, we can feel more at ease when consuming them, as they have undergone a process in accordance with halal requirements,” Haikal continued.

Beyond providing consumer peace of mind, choosing halal products also has wider implications: strengthening Indonesia’s halal product guarantee system whilst enhancing the competitiveness of domestic products.

“By choosing halal products, we also contribute to strengthening halal product assurance whilst encouraging the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products on the global stage,” Haikal explained.

BPJPH also invited all members of society to make Eid Al-Fitr a moment of collective action in supporting national economic growth through halal product consumption.

“Let us support halal products as part of efforts to strengthen our national halal products so they become increasingly competitive and capable of playing a role on the international stage,” said Haikal.

Through collective public awareness in selecting halal products, the national halal product ecosystem is expected to grow stronger and provide broad benefits for both consumers and business owners in Indonesia.
