Moscow (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday (7/6) his hope that Israel will not retaliate against Iran’s missile attacks on an Israeli airbase, as Washington is close to reaching an agreement with Tehran and he does not want the process to be disrupted. Previously, on Sunday night, Iran launched missile attacks on Israel in response to Israeli strikes on Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut. The Israeli government had previously stated that the strikes were in response to shelling of Israeli territory by the Lebanese group Hezbollah. “Iran’s attack did not hurt anyone. Hopefully, Israel will not retaliating,” Trump said in an interview with the news portal Axios. The US leader told Axios journalist Barak Ravid that he would contact Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to request that no retaliatory strikes be carried out. “We are very close to a final deal with Iran. It will be a good deal. I do not want that deal to fail because of what is happening right now,” Trump added.
