The government continues to encourage improvements in regional performance through an achievement-based award scheme. One such initiative is the 2026 Appreciation for Outstanding Regional Governments, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) together with detikcom, as a means to reinforce synergy between the central and regional governments.

In this series of events, Kemendagri will present awards to provincial, regency, and city governments in four main categories: inflation control, reduction in unemployment rates, reduction in poverty and stunting, and creative financing. The awards are planned to be held across six islands in Indonesia, with Sumatra Island as the kick-off location.

The award categories reflect the government’s focus on crucial regional development issues. In the inflation control category, appreciation is given to regions assessed as capable of maintaining price stability and supply.

Meanwhile, in the unemployment reduction category, awards are directed at regions that have successfully expanded job opportunities and improved workforce quality.

For the poverty and stunting reduction category, awards are given to regions that have enhanced community quality of life through various cross-sectoral programmes.

The creative financing category serves as recognition for regional innovations in developing development financing amid fiscal constraints.

Beyond the awards, the event also features the National Accelerator Forum as a national collaborative platform. This forum is designed to bring together the central government, regional governments, business actors, investors, SMEs, academics, and the public in a single ecosystem for dialogue and action.

The series of activities will include interactive talk shows lasting approximately 120 minutes, as well as panel discussions between the Minister of Home Affairs and regional heads across Sumatra.

The discussions will address several strategic issues, from inflation control, unemployment reduction, poverty and stunting alleviation, to enhancing creative financing.

The event will take place on (25/4/2026), starting at 16:00 WIB at Wyndham Opi Hotel, Palembang, and can be watched via streaming on the detikcom platform.

Several stakeholders are scheduled to attend, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Bappenas, Central Statistics Agency, as well as governors, regents, and mayors from across Sumatra. The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, will also serve as the main speaker in the forum.

Through the 2026 Appreciation for Outstanding Regional Governments and the National Accelerator Forum, it is hoped that stronger synergy will be built between the central and regional governments in driving economic growth, improving societal welfare, and accelerating equitable development across all regions of Indonesia.
