Appreciation for Mothers on Kartini Day: PAM JAYA Distributes Free Water Tanks
In commemoration of Kartini Day, Perusahaan Air Minum (PAM) JAYA, together with the DKI Jakarta Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK), distributed free water tanks to mothers in North Jakarta (Jakut) on Monday (20/4/2026).
A total of 100 large-capacity water tanks were distributed to residents in Tugu Utara Sub-district, Koja District, as a form of appreciation for the role of mothers in the family and an effort to support safer and more stable access to clean water.
PAM JAYA’s Director General, Arief Nasrudin, stated that Kartini Day commemoration is a momentum to appreciate the important role of women, especially mothers, in daily life.
“A mother’s struggle is extraordinary. We want mothers to feel more at ease and happy with sufficient access to clean water. The distribution of these tanks is our form of appreciation to them,” Arief said in a written statement received by Kompas.com.
The event, held at Mushala Baitul Muttaqin in Koja, Jakut, was attended by TP PKK DKI Jakarta Chair Hani Pramono Anung, TP PKK DKI Jakarta Vice Chair Dewi Rano Karno, North Jakarta Administrative City Mayor Hendra Hidayat, TP PKK North Jakarta Administrative City Chair Fida Hendra, as well as PAM JAYA and TP PKK officials.
Arief explained that the programme is part of PAM JAYA’s ongoing efforts to expand access to clean water services for Jakarta residents.
According to him, water access is not only related to pipeline networks but also how water can be stored and utilised optimally at the household level.
“The tanks provide a short-term solution for residents in areas with low water pressure, ensuring daily water needs are met,” he clarified.
The free water tank distribution programme has been implemented in stages. In the initial phase, PAM JAYA distributed 100 tanks to residents in Padamulya, Angke, West Jakarta (Jakbar) in January 2026.
The programme follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the DKI Jakarta Provincial TP PKK and PAM JAYA’s Daya Wanita regarding community social assistance for Jakarta residents.
Throughout 2026, PAM JAYA targets the distribution of 2,000 free 300-litre water tanks in stages across all Jakarta areas. The programme targets simple households, particularly customers in categories 2A1 and 2A2 with building areas under 70 square metres (m2).
One of the beneficiaries, Lilis, admitted to being greatly helped by the assistance.
“This tank is very helpful for us. I’m touched. Now I can feel at ease storing water, so daily needs are more assured,” she said.
