Appreciation for Dedication: TNI Commander Sends 707 Soldiers and Civil Servants on Free Umrah Pilgrimage
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has given special recognition to hundreds of soldiers and civil servants (ASN) within the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for their dedication to the nation and state. This recognition is manifested through a staggered programme of sending them on Umrah pilgrimages to the Holy Land.
The Head of Religious Affairs of the TNI’s Centre for Public Relations, Colonel (Navy) Agung Saptoadi, revealed that to date, 707 personnel have been dispatched under this religious programme.
“The dispatch for Umrah worship is a form of appreciation for the dedication of TNI soldiers and civil servants. In addition, this programme serves as a medium for mental and spiritual guidance to strengthen faith and piety towards the Almighty God,” said Agung in his statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Agung explained that human resource development (HRD) within the TNI does not only focus on physical and technical aspects but also touches on mental-spiritual aspects. This aims to shape personnel who are characterful, professional, and militant in carrying out state duties.
According to Agung, the TNI Commander is committed to carrying out sustainable personnel development. This step aligns with the vision of realising a professional, responsive, integrative, modern, and adaptive TNI.
“Mental development through worship is expected to form tougher soldier characters ready to face increasingly complex task dynamics,” he added.
