Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Special Advisor to the President for Labour and Worker Welfare, Said Iqbal, has announced his focus on several key issues in his new role under President Prabowo Subianto, including the limitation of outsourcing and the provision of fair wages.

Responding to journalists’ questions following his inauguration at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, Said Iqbal stated that one of the primary issues he will present to the President concerns the improvement of labour welfare, particularly through regulations in the revision of the Labour Law.

“We must ensure that in the draft law, outsourcing—contract labour—can be abolished if possible. If it cannot be, it should at least be strictly limited, for instance, to only four or five types of supporting roles,” said Said Iqbal.

He noted that increasing purchasing power is linked to the government’s target of achieving 8 per cent economic growth in the coming years.

“Therefore, fair wages are also a component that needs to be explored in the near future and included in the Labour Law Bill,” he added.

In addition to ensuring income stability, he stated that he will also oversee issues regarding job security and social security for workers in both the formal and informal sectors.

Previously, Said Iqbal was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as the Special Advisor to the President for Labour and Worker Welfare during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace today. Alongside Said Iqbal, Nanik S. Deyang was also inaugurated as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), with Agustina Arumsari and Retired Major General Trenggono appointed as Deputy Heads of the BGN.
