Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has been appointed chairman of the Task Force for the Mitigation of Layoffs. The appointment was announced following a coordination meeting between the task force, government representatives, and House of Representatives (DPR) leaders at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, 26 June 2026. “All parties agreed to request that we become the chairman of the Layoff Mitigation Task Force, as it is considered capable of bridging various parties and related stakeholders,” Prasetyo said. The State Secretary stated that after a year-long formation process, the task force is now beginning work to map industrial issues in order to prevent a wave of layoffs in Indonesia. According to him, the task force will cooperate with the National Police’s Employment Desk to monitor and exchange information regarding problems in companies that could potentially lead to layoffs. For companies with the potential to carry out layoffs, the task force will conduct mitigation on a case-by-case basis. In addition, the task force is also paying attention to companies that have already implemented layoffs but have not yet fulfilled their obligations. “We are mitigating one by one because layoff problems are not always related to raw material supply issues, such as gas or coal. Sometimes there are also internal company management conflict issues. However, whatever the cause, it is our duty to jointly carry out mitigation,” he said. The meeting was attended by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, President of the All-Indonesia Workers’ Union Confederation Andi Gani Nena Wea, Special Advisor to the President on Manpower and Labour Welfare Said Iqbal, and the National Police Employment Desk. Meanwhile, the DPR was represented by Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal. Dasco affirmed the parliament’s commitment to working with the government to mitigate layoffs in the country. “Later, the Layoff Mitigation Task Force, the government, and the DPR will meet regularly to coordinate. The DPR’s involvement will be led by Mr Cucun Syamsurijal,” he said.
