Application for RI citizenship
Application for RI citizenship
From Kompas
An elderly man has had a hard time processing his Indonesian citizenship document.
In 1996, the government facilitated the application for Indonesian citizenship for those foreign nationals who have lived in this country throughout their life, but they would still have to complete the necessary documents.
The man registered at the Central Jakarta Mayoralty Office in Tanah Abang, has heard nothing so far of what would happen to his application for Indonesian citizenship.
Instead, it was said that applicants who were not called to the mayoralty were advised to report to the court in Jl. Gajah Mada. The man went to the court as advised and was helped by a member of staff named Siswo Pramono. The employee examined the document and told the old man that his application lacked the necessary papers but was not specific. The staff member asked for money to process the papers.
My questions are: 1) What should applicants do if they are not called to the mayoralty office? 2) Why should this poor old man be burdened with an additional fee?
