Born and bred in Indonesia, I am an Indonesian citizen of
Chinese descent. On Oct. 10, 1992 I filed an application to
change my name into an Indonesian one. My name change was
published in State Gazette No. 55 dated July 9, 1993, which was
then corrected in State Gazette No. 83 dated Oct. 18, 1994. I
have often inquired about this matter with the Ministry of
Justice in Jakarta as I want to know whether the process of the
changing of my name has been completed or not. I last sent such a
letter on Feb. 27, 2002, when I moved to Solo. Unfortunately, the
letter has not been answered until now.

It is really confusing for me as to where I must go to seek
clarification about this matter. I wonder why the letters I have
sent to government institutions assigned to take care of this
matter have not been answered.

I hope the government agencies concerned can enlighten me on
this matter.
