Apple is reportedly preparing four potential designs for smart glasses. The iPhone manufacturer could launch one or all of the designs currently being tested. According to Engadget, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported four types of smart glasses being tested by Apple: smart glasses with square frames resembling Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses, a smaller square design similar to that worn by Apple CEO Tim Cook, oval-shaped frames, and smaller oval frames. Apple is also preparing smart glasses prototypes in various colour options, including black, navy blue, and light brown. Internally, Apple’s smart glasses project is referred to as N50. This product will compete with Meta’s smart glasses produced in collaboration with Ray-Ban. However, Gurman revealed that Apple’s smart glasses will have several differences from the glasses made by the company led by Mark Zuckerberg. The main difference is the design of “vertically oriented oval lenses with lights around them.” Apple’s smart glasses will be equipped with the ability to take photos and record videos. The system connected to the iPhone gives Apple’s smart glasses the capability to edit and send images, receive notifications, play music, and provide voice assistance. Apple is expected to release the smart glasses alongside the latest version of Siri, scheduled to launch with iOS 27. Gurman reported that Apple’s target is to announce the smart glasses product between late 2026 and early 2027, with a launch schedule in 2027.
