Apple Urges iPhone Users to Update iOS Now Amid Rise of AI Hackers

iPhone users are being urged to immediately perform security updates on their devices due to the increasing emergence of cyber security threats based on AI technology.

This move is part of Apple’s effort to adapt to the capabilities of AI. The technology is considered capable of rapidly developing dangerous hacking tools, as reported by Reuters.

AI is said to be able to reduce the time required for attackers to exploit vulnerabilities. This update changes the strategy for releasing security patches; previously, security fixes were typically released as part of major feature updates within iOS.

For example, security updates were often implemented during the transition from one iOS version to another, such as being available in iOS 26.5 and only becoming available again in iOS 26.6. However, under this new approach, security updates will be released separately. In fact, security patches may be released even faster than broader iOS updates.

The hope is that this will minimise the time attackers need to exploit weaknesses. Reuters noted that there is currently no evidence of vulnerabilities being exploited once patches or updates have been applied to smartphones within this shorter timeframe.
