Apple to open waitlist for AI-powered Siri when iOS 27 launches

Apple is reportedly set to open a waitlist for users to try the AI-powered Siri when its new operating systems, such as iOS 27, are officially released to the public.

Not only iOS 27 users, but also those on iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate will need to join the waitlist if they are keen to try the AI-powered Siri ahead of other users.

A Macrumors report on Monday (24/8) indicated that the waitlist was deliberately created by Apple to limit early access to a Siri with more capable AI features.

Apple is said to be using dynamic waiting time messages after users decide to join the AI Siri waitlist.

With this method, Apple can provide users with a clear estimated waiting time and the company can adjust its server capacity according to the number of people on the waitlist.

This move is not unusual, as during beta testing, users interested in the AI Siri also had to join a waitlist.

Some people needed up to a week to gain access, but there is no indication yet of how long people might have to wait after the public launch of all of Apple’s latest operating systems in September 2026.
