Jakarta (ANTARA) – Apple is reportedly set to introduce a smart home control hub called HomeView at an event titled “Welcome Home”, scheduled for Tuesday, 13 October.

According to an Engadget report on Sunday, 11 October, local time, the device will serve as a Siri-powered control centre for Apple’s smart home ecosystem.

HomeView is expected to be one of the products unveiled at Apple’s dedicated smart home event.

The use of “View” in the device’s name is intended to emphasise that it has a screen and is primarily controlled through Siri and voice commands.

HomeView will reportedly be available in two models: a tabletop device and a wall-mounted version.

Unlike Apple’s other hardware, HomeView will support only a limited number of Apple apps and will not provide access to the App Store.

Instead, Apple is encouraging users to make use of third-party accessories that can connect to HomeView through Siri, the Apple Home app or other Apple devices.

Apple is also working with Schneider Electric SE to bring smart home devices to the European market. The third-party products are reportedly to be sold under a line called “Apple Home Collection”.

Alongside HomeView, Apple is expected to introduce an updated HomePod mini powered by an S10 chip and a new-generation Apple TV with an A19 chip.

Third-party smart home products developed in partnership with LG are expected to follow the HomeView launch. The devices could reach consumers as early as the end of this year.
